The frame counter is located to the left of the timeline and has three display modes - which you can cycle through by clicking on the frame counter itself.

The three available display modes are frame number, elapsed time, and non-drop frame timecode. A fourth display mode, an embedded timecode is only available for movies which contain this feature.
