Logging in using a Session Key

Double click the cineSync icon in your applications folder. cineSync will launch and ask you to log in.

Your session host will need to provide you with the Session Key for the session.

Select 'Join Session' and enter the Session Key then press Continue.

cineSync will now join the session, populate the Playlist and download any metadata (drawings, annotations, markers etc.) When it is done you will be 'in sync' with everyone else in the session.

To do this, cineSync will attempt to automatically locate the files in the Playlist and will search your local drives and any connected network drives. If cineSync is unable to locate the file or files, you will see the following where the media should normally be displayed.

Media has not been uploaded

If the missing media file has not been uploaded by the session initiator through cineSync, clicking 'Click here to locate' will open up a file browsing dialogue that will let you point to the file on your local machine. If you do not have the media on your local machine, you will need to obtain a copy from the session initiator via ftp, email, etc, or the session initiator will need to upload the media through cineSync. If the files are available locally and you can select the files on your local file system, cineSync will then load them into the session, synchronise them and add any annotations that have already been added by the session creator.

cineSync will also memorise the location of those files and will add that location to a list of searchable places next time it tries to auto-locate a file.

Media has been uploaded

If the missing media file has been uploaded by the session initiator, using cineSync's internal ftp, http or Aspera client, clicking 'Click here to locate' will open up a dialogue window stating that an internet location has been set for the movie. You'll then be given the option to download the media from that internet location.

Selecting 'No' will open up a file browsing dialog that will let you point to the file on your local machine. If the files are available locally and you can select the files on your local file system, cineSync will then load them into the session, synchronise them and add any annotations that have already been added by the session creator.

Selecting 'Yes' will open the Playlist Viewer and cineSync will automatically download the file. You do not need to specify the download mechanism - cineSync will automatically use the same method for downloading as was used by the session creator for uploading.

It's possible that a prompt will appear for username / password for the download. This may happen if, for example, it's the first time cineSync has downloaded a movie from that location, or if the session creator has set certain security measures in place. The session creator will need to provide you with the username and password details for you to complete the download.

Once the username and password have been entered, they can can be saved by checking the tick box. This means next time cineSync should be able to download a file from that site automatically.

Once the server details have been correctly entered, the download will begin and as soon as the files have been downloaded, cineSync will then load them into the session, synchronise them and add any annotations that have already been added by the session creator.
