In order for guests in your session to view the media you have added to the Playlist, they must have their own locally-accessible copies of the files.

This means you'll need to transfer the media to your guests before they can participate in the session. They may already have access to the media from a shared directory, or you may choose to send them media using conventional ftp tools - or even courier them a drive (yes, people still do that!). However, it is very simple to send them the media using the file transfer tools in cineSync.

To transfer files, you'll first need to launch the Playlist Viewer, via the Playlist button or by choosing 'View Playlist' from the Playlist menu.

When the Playlist Viewer is first opened an 'Upload All' button will be available, which will upload all the movies in the Playlist.

NOTE: If a file in the Playlist is selected (or multiple files) then this button will read 'Upload Selected', meaning that only the selected/highlighted files in the Playlist will be uploaded.

When you click the 'Upload' button a drop-down menu will allow you to either transfer the media using a pre-defined transfer method, or to configure a new transfer method.

If no file transfer accounts have been pre-defined (so there are no transfer accounts in the drop down menu), select 'Configure Accounts'. This will open up the 'Configure Accounts' preferences window where new accounts can be added. The transfer options available are ftp, ftps, sftp, http, https. Aspera's fasp technology can also be used but will require a specific paid account. More information about the Aspera file transfer option is available here.

To add an account click the '+' button in the lower left corner of the account configuration preferences window and enter the details of the site you want to use for the transfer.

Once the details are added just click the save button and close the window.

If you then click the Upload button again, you'll see your newly configured account in the drop-down menu. Simply select the account and the upload will commence automatically.

If a prompt appears asking for your username and password for the upload then it's likely those details were entered incorrectly on the 'Configure Accounts' preferences window. If those details are entered correctly, cineSync will simply automatically start uploading the media.

Once cineSync commences uploading the media, a progress bar will appear in the Playlist for each file being uploaded.

Once completed, the message 'Upload Completed' will appear in the Playlist next to the uploaded files.

Once the files have been uploaded, they will be available to be downloaded by any of the people in the session (they may be prompted for a username and password, depending on the method you've used for uploading).
