cineSync Pro 2.1 and cineSync 1.3 released
Today sees the release of both cineSync 1.3 and cineSync Pro 2.1
The major improvements across both tools include an eraser tool and an entirely new Playlist Viewer (replacing the old Playlist Organiser) which greatly improves the process of building playlists, including drag and drop functionality and thumbnails for each clip, as well as improving and simplifying file transfers. In addition to file transfers via FTP you can now also transfer files using SFTP, FTPS, HTTP and HTTPS.
Saved sessions can now be launched directly from the saved session file, or the session file can be dragged into an open cineSync window.
Additional features in cineSync Pro 2.1 include the option of integrated Aspera file transfers, support for Cineon, DPX and EXR frames and a "play all" function that allows you to play multiple clips end-to-end in the same timeline.
You can download the latest versions at www.cinesync.com/download or www.cinesync.com/pro.
The Aspera integration for cineSync Pro
cineSync Pro and Aspera have put their collective heads together and come up with a very exciting new integrated client, which allows high speed, secure, reliable Aspera file transfers from within the cineSync Pro interface.
The integrated client is available as an optional extra for cineSync Pro customers and works in conjunction with an Aspera server.
The client is designed for simplicity and is great for guests to your session - particularly if it's for sessions where your guests aren't entirely technical. They get all the benefits of Aspera functionality, without having to install anything, set up any accounts, or even know that they're using it - it's completely transparent.
If you'd like to try it out, or if you'd like more information, you can email cineSync Product Manager Rory McGregor.

A closer look at the new Playlist Viewer
The first thing you'll notice is that on the main cineSync player interface, the "Add movies" button has been replaced with the Playlist Viewer Button, which is located immediately to the left of the playlist drop down menu in the lower left of the interface.
Clicking this button will take you to the new Playlist Viewer, where you can add files to the session, either individually or by folder and either from the local machine or from a remote location.
The Add File and Add Folder buttons should be pretty self explanatory, but the Add From Server button is new. When you click Add From Server the first time, you will get a prompt from cineSync to Configure Account. In the Account Configuration panel (part of the preferences menu) you can define the location, username, password, port, etc of your desired server, whether it's FTP, SFTP or FTPS. To add a new server, click the "+" sign in the lower left hand corner of the Account Configuration panel. Once the account is configured, it will be saved in your preferences and will be available in the Add From Server drop down menu from then on. This means that if you need to add a file from a remote location, all you need to do is click Add From Server, choose the appropriate server in your drop down list and cineSync will automatically log into that server so you can browse for files. Once the files are selected, they will automatically be downloaded and placed in your Playlist ready for review.
Any server that has been configured from the Add From Server menu will also be available for uploads and downloads. In addition, you can also upload and download using HTTP, HTTPS and Aspera (if you have an Aspera enabled cineSync Pro account). So once a file is in your Playlist you can select it, click Upload All and choose your desired server (or define a new one if necessary). cineSync will automatically upload to the server and display a progress bar to indicate the status of the transfer. Once the files have been uploaded, guests in the session can click the Download All button and cineSync will automatically download the files at the other end and place them in the Playlist for review. Depending on file transfer type and server configuration settings, the guest may be prompted for authorisation (username/password/etc) before the download can take place.
In addition to the Add File, Add Folder and Add From Server buttons, you can now add files to the session by dragging and dropping local files into the Playlist, or directly on to the main cineSync player interface.
